The International Defensive Shooting Association (IDSA) is the governing body officiating the shooting sport which simulates self defense shooting situations.

IDSA provides a venue for individuals, worldwide, to further their self defense shooting skills in a structured and enjoyable fashion, while maintaining a high level of safety for its participants.

IDSA shooting matches include firearms commonly used by Civilians, Law Enforcement, Military and Executive Protection Teams. These include Pistols, Shotguns, Urban Rifles, Sub-machine and Pocket guns. Each having its own separate National Championship.

Sanctioned competitions may hold “side matches” offering individuals the opportunity to shoot one or more of the other firearms used in IDSA.

IDSA encourages Manufactures to develop new and improved equipment which will increase the safety of our members.
