CommentsIDSA GUESTBOOK ADDED 3/7/05 Just a quick note on the PARIS, TX IDSA Shoot. Glen and Leonard drove out to meet with Paris, TX members. We shot 6 great stages. It seemed that everyone had a great time. We cannot wait to hear from them. Thank you, IDSA STAFF
CommentsThanks Leonard and Glen for a fun match. Ya'll did all the work, the rest of us had a great time. For me, IDSA is more fun and real than idpa. Come back anytime. Johnny Burnett.
CommentsWe shot IDSA in Paris, TX last Sunday and everybody had a great time. I am normally the match director for Paris IDPA. I told our group that we would be shooting something different this time but did not give them any details. Wanted to let them see it without any pre-conceived ideas. They all had positive comments. Everybody said they wanted to do it again. We bought enough targets to shoot another match in the near future. If you are interested in coming out to shoot with us e-mail me at mtroutt@sbcglobal.net Thanks again to Leonard and Glen for coming up and putting it on.
CommentsLen, We just shot a 3 gun match (pistols, rifles & shotguns) at our range this past Saturday (March 12th) and used your rules and scoring system (Paladin), and to make a long story short, it was a whopping success. How much better could a match director ask for. Easy and fast to score, easy to setup, and it applies to pistol, rifle & shotgun, all in the same match. If it works this good for 3 Gun Matches, I can't wait to put it to use in a pistol only match. No one had ever heard of the Paladin scoring method before, but they loved it. We didn't have even one single complaint. All I heard, is "this is the way it should have been a long time ago". Keep up the good work, and I'm sure IDSA is well on it's way to surpassing anything IDPA wished it was. Lin Webb - FY36912 Level One USPSA Range Safety Officer
CommentsGuys, Just wanted to say here in the Dallas, and North Texas Area, there was a match shot last Saturday at the Dallas Pistol Club and they reported they had a great time also. Richard Patton ran it and keep it up. Now, as for the North Texas Law Enforcement Officers, you can look forward to a new club getting going. Yep, the North Texas IDSA LEO Club. The President is Keith Bilbry. They are setting the dates and will announce them asap. To everyone, keep it up guys and we will get the word out. Len Baxley
CommentsIDSA could be one of the most well thought out approaches to a shooting game I have seen. I have kept up with reading your Yahoo Group page and some other related posts I could find on the internet with much interest. I think the concept of how the game should be is dead on. The rules are fantastic in their simplicity. The game just plain makes sense to people that carry pistols for self defense. I'm looking forward to shooting an IDSA match one day when I am able. I am also toying around with the idea of somehow getting the ball rolling to shoot IDSA at my local club, but that will be an uphill battle since we've hosted the last 2 IDPA Nationals and we are square in the middle of the IDPA Empire. But I've got alternatives.... But anyway, I just wanted to give you guys a pat on the back for doing what you are doing. I think IDSA is a great concept and I hope it grows as far as you want it to. Stay the course, fellas.
CommentsFirst thing first; Thank You. I'm glad someone out there has given us an alternative to IDPA and IPSC. I joined IDPA @ a year and a half ago because, at the time it was the most ""realistic"" of the shooting sports. I shoot 2-3 mathces a month during the season. I hope I can get them to give this a try as an alternative to IDPA. I hope that you will continue to take input as you firm up the rules. One of my biggest problems with IDPA is the fact that all ported guns are illegal and always will be. I've been wanting to buy a 2"" snubbie wheelgun to carry, the only prolem is several of them (in .44 spl or .45) are ported, at least the affordable ones (i.e. Taurus). I also hope that the scoring system will allow the 5 shot wheel guns to be competitive. I'd like to see a 5 shot and a 6 shot class, but I know I'm getting ahead of myself. Keep up the good work and I hope to be able to get the guys to try it soon.
CommentsGreetings Fellow Shooters, I got the link to your site from a fellow shooter, and looked thru the whole site. I'm impressed. It's looks like you may have a happy medium between USPSA/IPSC & IDPA. I do not shoot in IDPA because of their inconsistentsies at each match, and constant ""fiddling"" with the rules. I have been a USPSA/IPSC shooter for several years (8), and am currently a ""B"" class shooter in Open, Limited, Limited 10, Production & ""C"" class in Revolver. I am also a Level 1 Range Safety Officer. As you may know, our Production class is very similar to your IDSA rules, only we don't have to conceal anything. I can also see a lot of USPSA/IPSC shooters crossing over to this new sport that would never shoot in IDPA. One suggestion I do have is concerning your potential power factor ratings. As you know USPSA's power factors are 165 for major, and 125 for minor. I would like to suggest that your power factors be the same, that way, shooters from USPSA would not have to change their loads that they have become use to (ie: re-set their reloaders) and these power factors would not ""beat"" their guns up. Also, at each match, consider posting a printed stage design & course description at each stage, that way, everyone could read it before they shoot, and would not have to remember what to do at each stage after the walk thru. I can't remember more than 5 seconds, so this would be a big help I think, & it would help insure that everyone shoots the stage in the same manner, without attempting to gain some type of advantage. It looks like you are off to a good start. I wlll be watching closely. One last thing; this is a ""game"". Anytime you keep score, and compare it to someone elses for the ultimate outcome, that makes it a ""game"". I think IDPA has lost sight of that fact. Safe Shooting,
CommentsI absolutely love your Rule # 5 under match and stage design. It leaves no room for arguement. It is ""cut and dried"". It makes everyone shoot on ""equal"" ground, and not the beliefs of some egotistical ""tactically crazy"" RO. That's why I do not shoot IDPA. All the rest of the rules look basically good to go. Maybe a little tweaking here and there from others who send in suggestions. No one around these parts have shot match under the IDSA banner as of yet, but I've informed several range owners in the area about it, and they are interested. Will let you know how our 1st one turns out. I am a hardcore IPSC shooter, but I am very interested in trying this new sport, because: ""it does make sense""
CommentsI am intrigued by what you have done here.It looks as though you have taken the parts of IDPA I like and thrown away the portions I don't like. I don't care much for the major/minor idea, although it does have it merits I guess. Any chance of putting a drawing of the target on the website so I/we could get a better understanding of what the scoring zones look like. I find the target designators interesting, not sure if I like that or not.(ie something on ever target) All in all I would be very interested in getting my local club involved with this organization.
CommentsRules are more realistic than idpa, favors shooters instead of ""gamers"". Nothing not to like. Thanks Leonard and Glen.
